Delightful deck of cards made by Carta Mundi in the early 1980s for Wenneker Distilleries, the Dutch distillery that now makes and in the 1980s made "Olifant" gin and vodka. "Olifant," apparently an obsolete variant of "elephant" and a word that has come to mean a hunter's horn made from an elephant tusk, is an iconic brand, first made and sold by Dutch businessman J.J. Melcher in 1841. The cards feature amusing illustrations of elephants on the Jokers, Aces and court cards The deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus a bridge scoring insert card. The illustrations are the same for each suit – i.e., 4 Aces the same, 4 Kings the same, etc. The cards are slightly small bridge size, measuring 87mm x 57mm, and come in the original box.
