At the the beginning, Men Shen is only an abstract concept. But in Han dynasty, Men Shen began to have specific names and images. People usually take such folk heroes as Yu Chi Gong and Qing Qiong or fair tales as the images of Men Shen. What's more, posting Men Shen to drive devils away becomes a custom.
