Description

18th-century playing cards feature Aesop's Fables. Based on a deck printed by I. Kirk ca 1759. The deck is wrapped in paper which shows a crude image of Henry the VIII and reads "For Exportation. Fifty pounds penalty if relanded, and twenty pounds if sold or used in Great Britain.". Each card has a title, with six-line poems (four lines dedicated to the fable and two to the moral), a picture, and a playing card face printed on uncoated heavy card stock, cut with square corners, and has no design on the back.
