Description

This has been printed by USPCC in a limited edition of 2500, and was funded on Kickstarter. The face of this deck is animated, but not the back. This deck is based upon the city of Paris, France, in a brilliant art nouveau style (with some inspiration by Czech artist Alphonse Mucha). The artist's goal is to give the beholder the experience of holding a clockwork jewel-box while viewing the flip-book animation. As a new feature of all future fig. 23 decks, there are two different jokers, which both feature a Gallic Rooster, the national symbol of France. The pips are traditional. The court cards are different for each suit and show drawings in red for the red suits and in black for the black suits. The Jacks show knights' helmets; the Queens show open crowns; and the Kings show closed crowns. The face features the fig. 23 animated logo and a day/night rotating image with rotating sun and moon. The clockwork is large and shows a great sense of depth. The backs are two-way and as pictured on the back of the tuck box. The deck is dedicated to Terry Menefee Gau.
