From 'The World of Playing Cards': The four suits are replaced with symbols for the countries of the UK: the Scottish thistle, Irish clover, English rose and Welsh leek, which also appear on the redesigned joker. Court cards were similarly redesigned, with the Kings showing the Unicorn from the royal arms, the Queens with the Royal Crown and the Jacks the Prince of Wales arms.
