Welcome to Turris contra Turrim (Latin for Tower against Tower), a premium, limited-edition Bicycle playing card deck that brings the stark, vertical architecture and bitter blood feuds of 12th-century Bologna, Italy, straight to your tabletop. In the Middle Ages, the skyline of Bologna resembled a stone-and-mortar Manhattan. Over 150 soaring towers, some reaching up to 100 meters into the sky, dominated the city. These structures weren't built by a centralized government; they were erected by wealthy rival merchant families. Each tower was a physical manifestation of pure ego, wealth, and power. But with immense ambition came a devastating cost. The city became a pressure cooker of Odium Civile (civil hatred), where noble houses engaged in brutal, generation-spanning family feuds, literally warring from tower to tower.
