Description

In 1999, 2 years before becoming part of USPCC, Hoyle manufactured these double bridge deck sets of cards made from cellulose acetate. In 2004, USPCC would also acquire KEM, which had been manufacturing their popular cellulose acetate double bridge sets since 1935. These Hoyle cards from the St. Paul era are extremely similar to the KEMs, right down to the replacement order card, but have a smooth finish as opposed to the subtly textured KEM finish. They are a tiny bit lighter than the KEM cards; 5 Hoyles weigh 9.8 grams, while 5 KEM cards from the same year weigh 9.9 grams. The Hoyle 100% plastic cards currently (2020) being manufactured by USPCC are much thicker and heavier than these.
