Fractured

The concept of this deck sprouts from an idea that I received a long time ago - "Trust is like a piece of paper; once it is crumpled, no matter how hard you try to flatten it out, those creases and folds remain." I also recognized the fragility of relationships and therefore combined the two aspects to create the design. Following the inspiration of the deck, I wanted to focus on the functionality and aesthetics of the cards. The small red triangles on the top and bottom of the cards are designed specifically for aerial tricks and the pirouette so that when the cards are spun, a vibrant red streak will surround the exterior of the cards. On the faces, all designs are original and are based on the traditional looks of playing cards. From the court cards to the jokers, all 56 cards are designed by myself and Designer Hannah Ma. Hannah has designed logos for businesses ranging from health and sports industries to graphic designs of products for toy and hobby shops. The main goal during the creation of this design was to offer a modern touch to playing cards. However, due to the consideration that should the designs be very different from the traditional designs, magicians would have difficulty performing with this deck as it may cause the audience to be suspicious. Fractured Playing Cards come with a thin border so that while a modern look is retained, tricks utilizing the borders to camouflage can still be achieved. The cards will be printed on USPCC card stock, traditionally cut, with an Air-Cushion Finish. This is to ensure the premium quality and handling, regardless if it is used for games or performances. Each deck comes with one double-backer and one duplicate card, allowing for more possibilities with various tricks and performances. The tuck case features the Gemini Entertainment Co. logo on the sides, a startup company founded by myself. This company was founded for content creators to explore various entertainment channels, such as music, filmmaking, artwork, and more. The company name Gemini comes from the inspiration of seeing both sides to every situation and maintaining balance in life.
