The Cards were published by the Brauhaus Thurn und Taxis as advertising for the beer variety "Schierlinger Roggen." Reprint of a card game from around 1860; The original is often referred to in literature as "Nürnberger Tand," corresponding to the inscription on the acorn die. However, the original packaging from that time states "Schildkarte." In the reprint, a blue tax stamp (1854 to 1874) from "Mittelfranken" for "4 Kreuzer" has been adopted in the print. The extra card contains information about the game, but this should be viewed with caution: for example, the game is incorrectly referred to as "Bavarian picture." On the other side of the extra card is advertising for "Schierlinger Roggen," the reason for the new edition.
The original was produced around 1860 by the printing company G. Häußler in Nuremberg. According to the extra card, the Nuremberg merchant J.L. Dietz was the publisher of the game. Other sources state that Häußler was the owner of the company Ludwig Dietz. In one way or another, this explains the information on the Heart-6, including the printed (originally handwritten) addition.
The designer was Friedrich Wanderer, a lecturer at the Nuremberg vocational school.
In 1996/1997, the Thurn und Taxis breweries were taken over by the Paulaner Brewery Group. However, the Schierling Brewery went to the Kuchlbauer Brewery. By 2018, the Schierling Brewery only produced two types of beer: Schierlinger Hell and Schierlinger Pils.
